CREATIVE youngsters have put their artwork on display alongside a national museum's imposing exhibits.

Artwork produced by students from King James I School, Bishop Auckland, features in an exhibition at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum, in Shildon, County Durham.

The exhibition is part of the Transporting Lives project, which looks at changes in transport and their impact on the environment.

Similar initiatives are taking place at other museums in the North-East including Darlington Railway Museum, Beamish Open Air Museum, Stockton Museum Service and Hartlepool Museum.

Each museum will work with secondary schools across the region under the theme of sustainability; investigating the past, present and future of transport and the impact this has had.
