VILLAGERS gathered to see the culmination of weeks of hard work yesterday as youngsters took part in a traditional Maypole dance.
Thirty children from Crakehall Primary School, in Crakehall, near Bedale, performed the dance, and helped to crown the May Queen, year six pupil Lucy Bartram. She was assisted by her two reception class attendants, Daniel Neale and Ella Starkey.
The youngsters have been practising for the event for the past three weeks.
Headteacher Alison Cole said: "The children have worked really hard and have given up their lunchtimes to practise. They have all really enjoyed taking part."
