POLICE chiefs are looking for more people to volunteer to become part-time officers in County Durham.
The Durham force is hoping that, with 2005 being the Year of the Volunteer, there will be another increase in numbers of special constables.
Carol Oliver, special constable recruitment officer for the force's southern area, said: "The numbers of special constables in the area has increased significantly over the past few months, in both new recruits and applications, but we still need more.
"They are a valuable asset to the extended police family, bringing a wealth of experience and skills to the role, and now Durham Constabulary are able to offer an annual bounty payment of £1,500 for a minimum of six hours per week."
Anyone interested in the role should telephone (01325) 742060 or 0191-375 2336.
