POLICE have appealed for information after several vehicles were sprayed with silver paint in Stanley overnight on Sunday.
Walls surrounding Catchgate cemetery and the road leading up to it were also daubed with the paint.
Eight cars, including a Volkswagen Golf, a BMW and a 1966 Ford Cortina, a motorhome and a caravan were targeted in Harelaw Gardens, Catchgate.
PC Jim Bates said the vehicles had been sprayed after 10pm.
He said: "Fortunately, the vehicle owners spotted what had happened quite quickly and were able to remove it.
"Understandably, the graffiti in the area of the cemetery is very upsetting for those visiting the graves of loved ones. Those responsible wrote a number of nicknames and, hopefully, that will help us track them down.
"This mindless vandalism is just the type of behaviour the force's StreetSafe initiative aims to tackle, and local residents can be reassured we will do everything we can to find the culprits."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Stanley police on 0845 60 60 365.
