A BOOK celebrating the life and work of Darlington-born poet Ralph Hodgson, will be launched at Darlington's Crown Street Library.
A collection of his poetry has been reissued and copies will be available to buy at the event.
The editor of the new work, John Harding, will hold a presentation about Ralph Hodgson.
Hodgson was born in Darlington in 1871 and moved to London in 1898 where he worked as a cartoonist on various boys' magazines.
He later turned his hand to writing poetry and went on to win many awards in Britain, Japan and America.
He was a friend and confidante of many leading poets of the time including Siegfried Sassoon and TS Eliot.
It was Eliot who tried unsuccessfully to persuade Hodgson to illustrate his Old Possum Book of Cats. Hodgson later settled in Ohio, US, where he died in 1962.
The launch will be on Wednesday, May 18 from 2pm to 4pm.
Alongside the book launch, the Centre for Local Studies within Crown Street Library, will be hosting an exhibition on the life and work of Ralph Hodgson from June 2 for one month.
