PEOPLE with memories of the Second World War are invited to Darlington's Crown Street Library on Friday, May 27, to help to record their experiences for future generations.
The library will host an open day to mark the 60th anniversary of VE day.
On the day, items from the local history collection, which are not usually on display, including photographs, ration books and maps, will go on show.
People who remember the war will be able share their memories as part of the BBC's the People's War.
This is a national project to preserve in an Internet educational archive for future generations the memories and stories of all the people who lived through the Second World War.
Age Concern and the Darlington Railway Museum are also interested in memories of the people who worked or used the railways and are getting involved in the project.
Residents who have objects dating back to the war, such as ration books and old photographs, are invited to bring them along on the day.
This Friday, there will be a display in the children's section of the library about what life in Darlington was like during the war.
