MORE details of two new secondary and five primary schools in Gateshead are to be revealed at public meetings.
Illustrations and plans for the schemes went up this week in the schools they are due to replace. It is part of a £62m Private Finance Initiative and the plans will be on display throughout this month.
A series of roadshows is also being held to allow parents to meet the architects, ask questions and discuss the plans in greater detail.
The programme includes new secondary schools Lord Lawson of Beamish, in Birtley, near Chester-le-Street, and Kingsmeadow Community College and Kingsmeadow Community Comprehensive School in Dunston, Gateshead. There will be two new single-site primary schools at Harlow Green and Rowlands Gill, a new Dunston Hill Primary School on the Kingsmeadow site, and a building which will allow Highfield Primary and Highfield St Joseph's RC Primary schools to share facilities.
All the proposed schools have outline permission and detailed applications are being submitted. Construction may begin this year.
