Ayckbourn comedy: The Yarm Border Players latest comedy, How the Other Half Live, by Alan Ayckbourn, will run from Wednesday, May 11, to Saturday, May 14, at 7.30pm, in the Yarm Social Centre, Bentley Wynd. Summer fair: Yarm Preparatory School's summer fair will be held on Saturday, from 10am to noon, including face painting, crazy sand, raffles, stalls and tombola. Refreshments will be available. On Monday, the school will hold a mums' netball evening in the sports hall, from 7.30pm to 10pm.

Book early: This is the last week for the early discount of £5 per head for Yarm School's summer ball. Tickets cost £25 and can be reserved by contacting Gerry Glasby in the school office on (01642) 786023. The ball will be held at the Tall Trees Hotel on Friday, June 24, and includes a meal.
Coffee morning: A coffee morning with a sale of second-hand books, videos and CDs takes place at St John's parish hall, Butt's Lane, Egglescliffe, on Saturday, May 14, from 10am to noon. Admission 75p, including coffee and biscuits. Proceeds go to the Durham Diocesan AIDS Appeal.
Ladies meetings: The Ladies Section of Egglescliffe Community Centre meet on alternate Thursday evenings, at 7.45pm. On May 26, there will be a charity evening in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance.
Sequence dancing: Colin and Pat Swain are the floor leaders at the modern sequence dance section on Tuesday evenings, from 7.30pm to 10pm, at Egglescliffe Community Centre, Durham Lane. For details, call (01642) 645787.
Churches open: St John's Church, Egglescliffe, will be open on Wednesday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm from May to August. Volunteers are needed to help. Sign the list in church or call Linda Bate on (01642) 780658. Yarm Parish Church will be open on Wednesdays from 10am to 4pm.
