A FORMER pupil returned to his Stockton school last week to direct a special show by Chinese acrobats, singers and musicians.
The Yew Chung International School from Shanghai, in China, had just completed a tour around Australia and visited the North-East as part of its East meets West UK Tour.
Last Thursday, the performers visited Grangefield School to put on a special variety concert of Western and Oriental music and dance.
The group consisted of children from more than 30 different countries and included dancers, acrobats and orchestra members.
The school's music and dance pupils and all year eight tutor groups saw the show.
Acting headteacher Allan Mansfield said everyone enjoyed the performance.
"We were honoured to be one of only two senior schools in the North-East that they visited," he said.
"Gary Sanderson, the director of music, is a former Grangefield School pupil, so it was a pleasure to welcome him back."
