A SCHOOL is celebrating one of its most successful years in the sporting arena after landing an impressive haul of silverware.
The trophy cabinet at Tudhoe Grange School, near Spennymoor, is almost bursting thanks to sportswomen who netted football and netball trophies.
Topping the honours list is the year 11 netball team, which won the South West Durham league and tournament after an impressive five-year unbeaten run.
The same eight girls - Kathryn Siddle, Kimberly Sokell, Lauren Richardson, Nikki Smith, Katherine Hartley, Gemma Richardson, Joanne Parnaby and Jane Blance - have been a team since starting school.
In about 70 league and tournament fixtures they have not been defeated and have won the league three times.
Coach Liz Ward said: "It is a brilliant achievement, I have never had a team go unbeaten in their entire school playing career.
"They have become friends and have a good understanding of each other, they want to continue playing together so have joined the Ferryhill Ladies League, in which they were runners-up last season."
The year seven and nine girls football teams each won the Sedgefield District Girls Football Tournament held at Sedgefield Community College two weeks ago.
The year nine netball team won the South West Durham League and were runners up in the district tournament.
