PLANS to add an extra storey to a bungalow in a Teesdale village have been opposed by the parish council.
But Teesdale District Council has recommended that the extension to Cote Cottage, Ovington, is approved.
Ovington Parish Council objected to the plan saying it would affect the character of the village green, impose on neighbours, reduce the amount of affordable housing in the village and set a precedent for further development.
In a report, district council planning officer Andrew Bishop said: "The proposed extension would give the property an improved architectural character that would allow it to make a more positive contribution to enhance the village, which is proposed in the Teesdale District Local Plan to be a conservation area."
Teesdale District Council's planning committee will discuss the application on Wednesday at 5.30pm in the council chamber, Teesdale House, Barnard Castle.
