Durham Coast League: Although only one game failed to start, the remainder all finished early as rain swept down the coast.

Champions Murton made the short journey to Easington but after scoring 56 for the loss of one wicket, the weather closed in and eventually a combination of rain and bad light ended the game.

David Scorer opened with 21 and after his departure, Calvin Stephenson looked a possible match winner but when on 27 not out, his innings was cut short.

When they batted first, Easington lost a couple of early wickets before captain and professional David Kennedy (65), Young (37 not out) and Wilson (34) propelled the total to a useful 198-5.

Boldon CA made the highest score of the day, a formidable 236 for eight at home to Seaham Park.

The returning Jason Jones celebrated making 74 and Andy O'Connell also struck form with 56. Ian White was the principal wicket-taker with figures of 3-71 but the Park were not able to start their innings.

Ryhope declared with one run short of 200 on the board at home to Peterlee.

Graeme Smith gave them a good start with a half-century but it was John Minnis who gave momentum to the total when he contributed 78.

The visitors were another side unable to begin their reply.

Newcomers Washington were all out for 124 at home to Silksworth for whom Chris Pringle and Stephen Wright bowled well.

Pringle sent down 15 overs, eight of them maidens claiming four wickets for a mere 22 runs, while Wright bowled unchanged for 25 overs returning the excellent analysis of 4-53.

Bill Plender carried his bat for Washington, hitting six fours in 36 and Nicholas Thompson added 32 with four boundaries.

Silksworth were well-placed on 60 with eight wickets intact when the rain arrived.

Little play was possible at Dawdon who were 22 for the loss of two wickets against Houghton and not a ball was bowled in the game between Castle Eden and Bill Quay.
