Readers Durham County League: Brandon, the only side with a 100 per cent record, made it four wins out of four with an emphatic victory over Langley Park on Saturday.

The game was all over inside 32 overs after the home side were sent back for just 43 runs.

Their batsmen found the twin attack of Michael Tinkler and Scott Hopson too hot to handle and six failed to get off the mark.

Star man Hopson had a hat-trick in figures of 5-13 from 4.4 overs and Tinkler, who opened the attack, responded taking three wickets for just 18 runs in 11 overs, five of which were maidens.

With the threat of rain, Brandon wasted no time when they made their reply and Australian Jim Allenby hit six fours in 41 not out made from a total of 45 for the loss of one wicket.

Allenby has now made in excess of 250 runs from four visits to the wicket.

Three-times champions Evenwood lost for the third time in four outings when Esh Winning had 43 runs to spare.

It looks as if Esh have made a real find in Pakistani Rizman Quereshi who was man-of-the-match with bat and ball.

He struck no fewer than 13 fours and one six in 112 before being run out and the former Durham County player Graham Hurst added 32 not out to a total of 232-6 made from just 45 overs.

Evenwood were in with a chance when Billy Teesdale (65) and John Maughan, whose innings of 66 included four sixes and six boundaries were together in a second wicket stand but Quereshi then became the match winner with the ball.

Introduced as third change into the Esh attack, he immediately responded and finished with the outstanding figures of 6-36 from 9.5 overs.

From a promising position, Evenwood were all out for 189.

Sewranie Chattagoon again showed form contributing 79 to the Tudhoe total of 176 at Mainsforth where Simon Davies opened with a half-century but when the pair fell, most wickets went cheaply to John Cavaghan (3-35) and Gary Purcell, who conceded just 20 runs claiming five victims.

David Fishburn and Sam Hogg both made half-centuries to carve out a five wickets win for Mainsforth.

Newcomers Hylton won for the second time in four attempts, defeating Crook Town with 59 runs to spare.

David Tate batted throughout the innings ending with an unbeaten 101 and Stephen Merrington also carried his bat for 34 in a total of 200 for four wickets.

Although Stephen Ball (75 not out) also batted right through, Crook were pegged to 141-8 with spinner Merrington returning figures of 4-40.

Willington had more than 100 runs in hand of Shildon who responded with 103 including a late 32 from Strong as Paul Chivers and Gary Cummings shared eight wickets at a combined cost of just 60 runs.

Runs were more plentiful when Willington made first use of the wicket and posted 204-7 including a half-century from Brown and 30 plus scores by Chris Slattery and Stephen Donnelly.

Kimblesworth's Lee Wright, who had four sixes and as many fours in an unbeaten 60 and captain Stephen Meek (45 not out) were going well when rain caused the abandonment of their game with Etherley.
