BRASS bands, choirs and aspiring young musicians from across the region will come together this weekend for a music festival.
The 81st Consett Music Festival will be held at Blackfyne Community School, Consett, on Friday and Saturday and on the weekend of May 20 and 21.
The Friday sessions start at 6pm, and on the Saturdays at 9.15am, 2pm and 6pm.
The adjudicators will be Keith Stent and Marilynne Davies. This year, entries have increased yet again, to more than 200, with new trophies donated.
They include two for brass duet classes, and others for junior choral and junior modern musical classes.
There is also a new veteran class. The Consett Music Festival was formed in 1924 as Consett began to modernise following the First World War.
The first events took place in Consett landmarks such as the Methodist Lecture Halls, in Middle Street, and the Avenue.
