STEAM heavyweights from across the region trundled into an open air museum for an annual traction engine rally at the weekend.
Nine engines were on display at the Beamish Museum near Stanley, County Durham, dating from 1900 to the 1920s. Among the examples were a Foden, Fowler and Marshall, with an 1890s 12-tonne Aveling and Porter proving to be of particular interest.
The weekend, sponsored by the bus operator Go-Ahead Group, included activities for families.
