A FORMER student who returned to her old college as a lecturer has been honoured.
Textile lecturer Caroline Forknall, who teaches at Cleveland College of Art and Design, Middlesbrough, is North-East winner of New Horizons, a national award celebrating exceptional part-time teachers in further education.
The last course Ms Forknall ran achieved a 100 per cent pass rate compared to a previous average of 38 per cent.
One of the judges, Jacqui Henderson, of the Learning and Skills Council, said: "Caroline is clearly an inspiration - a positive role model for her students and an exemplar of quality for the college."
College principal David Willshaw, said: "She is someone who can enthuse others to exceed their own expectations and achieve the highest educational standards.''
Ms Forknall, who has been appointed course leader for the National Diploma in design crafts, said: "My aspirations for my new position are to continue to raise the full potential and achievement levels for present and future students."
