PEOPLE in Darlington who are deaf or have hearing impairments are being urged to find out what help and advice is available to them.
Darlington Borough Council's social services team can offer advice on state benefits and personal aids, and also runs support groups and a youth forum for those with hearing difficulties.
The team is particularly keen to hear from people who have hearing loss or dual sensory loss - such as having a sight and a hearing impairment - and have not contacted social services in the past.
Disabled people and those with learning disabilities who also suffer hearing problems are being encouraged to get in touch as they have the right to use services set up for the deaf and hearing impaired.
John Williams, leader of Darlington Borough Council, said: "Help and advice is available to those who are deaf or have hearing impairments and I would encourage anyone who thinks they may benefit to get in touch."
