A TALENTED computing student from a North-East university is to represent the UK in the World Skills Challenge in Helsinki later this month.
Anthony Robinson, of the University of Sunderland, was chosen from hundreds of people across Britain to take part in the competition, which has people under 23 competing in vocational skills.
About 800 competitors from nearly 40 countries will be tested in the fields of technology, industry and services.
The 21-year-old, who lives in Sunderland, was put forward by Shabir Aslam, from City of Sunderland College.
Mr Robinson did a foundation degree at the college, before transferring to the university.
Mr Aslam says: "Anthony came across as a student who was extremely talented in his technical ability. He had an attitude where he wanted to progress, achieve and succeed and I believe he has a very good chance of winning."
Mr Robinson, who is studying BSc Network Computing, must master a variety of new skills and achieve full competence within his degree area.
The event takes place between May 26 and 29 at the Helsinki Fair Centre.
