A BEGINNER'S guide to tracing family history is on offer at a County Durham library next week.
Former teacher Val Kirkley will be at Durham County Council's Clayport Library on Saturday to guide people on how to start gathering information and how to write up their findings.
Ms Kirkley, who has a certificate in family history from Newcastle University after completing a six-generation study, has succeeded in tracing her family back to 1772.
She has been interested in family history for more than 20 years and will draw on this experience to offer problem-solving advice.
The talk starts at 2pm and tickets, which cost £2, are available from the library, on 0191 386 4003.
