ARMY recruiting teams are visiting County Durham this week as part of a campaign to tell young people about career opportunities with the Army.
Representatives of the Light Dragoon Guards will be in Durham all week, where they will be talking about the skills development, sport, travel and training opportunities available.
Warrant Officer Garry Bennett, senior recruiter at the Durham Army Careers Information Office, said: "The best way for young people in Durham to find out what life is really like in the Army is to speak directly to serving soldiers, so we're giving them a chance to do just that. The modern Army offers an unrivalled range of career opportunities. You can do any job across nine career groups, from vehicle mechanic, driver or chef to communications technician or administrator.
"And recruits also get comprehensive training, which provides them with the qualifications they need to do their jobs both during and after their time in the Army."
He said the Army had introduced a Golden Hello scheme, ranging from £500 to £8,000, for applicants who have studied certain vocational subjects.
