A PROPERTY company is hitting the right notes by investing in a cultural project that will bring a world-renowned opera singer to the region.
The two opera concerts, sponsored by Durham-based Rivergreen Developments, will take place over the May bank holiday weekend, and raise funds for local child health charity, The Children's Foundation.
Thanks to the creative partnership, platinum-selling Latvian soprano Inessa Galante is appearing on stage with the 100-strong Rotterdam Opera Choir, known as Rok, at venues in Newcastle and Durham.
The cultural exchange came about as a result of a business relationship between Rivergreen managing director Peter Candler, and Dutch steel fabricator boss Gerard Saarberg, who is a member of the Rok choir.
Mr Candler said: "We are pleased to get involved in a project that deepens the relationship between art and business in the region.
"Proceeds from the concerts will also go towards providing better health for our children, so the benefits to the region are far reaching."
The concerts will take place at Newcastle's City Hall on May 27 and Durham Cathedral on May 28. For more details, call 0191-202 3018.
