YOUNGSTERS at a primary school have enlisted the help of an environmental consultant to get to know how the garden grows.
Children from Kelloe Primary School, Durham, have teamed up with Durham County Council countryside ranger Saul Fajerman to bring a new look to part of their school grounds.
The link-up follows a student election at the school, as part of citizenship lessons, when pupils identified the environment as a key issue.
The poll saw pupil Philip Jones, of the Garden Green Party, elected and he chose Mr Fajerman to be their environmental consultant to help carry out the manifesto.
Mr Fajerman said: "It's great to see that young people are taking environmental issues seriously and want to get actively involved in making their local area a nicer place in which to grow up."
