POLICE are investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a car and killed on a country road.
The man, who has not yet been named, was walking along the B1257, a quarter of a mile north of Malton, North Yorkshire, when the accident happened at 12.15am yesterday. He was in collision with silver BMW estate car and died from his injuries.
Police now want to hear from anyone who saw the collision, or who witnessed the driving of the car before the accident.
Anyone who saw the man, who was wearing a black jacket and jeans, walking along the road is also asked to call PC Stuart Langford on (01723) 509555.
Officers asked any motorist who left Malton travelling towards Hovingham between midnight and 12.20am to get in touch as they may have passed the scene and not realised it.
