THE region's video game designers have signed a commercial alliance with two international partners.
GameHorizon, the North-East games developer association, has agreed deals with the Digital Media Alliance in Florida, US, and GameInfinity, in Seoul, South Korea.
GameHorizon was set up to promote the region's games software houses by Codeworks, the North East Centre of Digital Excellence.
Herb Kim, Codeworks chief executive, said: "This puts the expansion of the North-East games cluster into a whole new dimension - giving us massive opportunities on the international stage with immense commercial potential for the region.
"Games development is one of the most international sectors in the UK economy," said Mr Kim.
"Games produced in the North-East are played every day, on every continent in the world."
Carri Cunliffe, project manager for GameHorizon, said: "Our plan is to bring the latest commercial expertise and industry knowledge to members, to give them the competitive edge and ensure they stay ahead of the game as the market grows and changes.
"Our three-country alliance shows that we are delivering on that plan."
