THE wealth of opportunities available to adults interested in returning to learning in Chester-le-Street will be highlighted during a week of events.
Adult Learners' Week takes place from May 23 to May 27 when there will be 29 taster sessions for residents throughout the district to try their hand at the variety of courses on offer.
Before the week gets under way, an Evening of Celebration takes place on Thursday, from 7pm to 9pm, at Tobago's Restaurant in Chester-le-Street.
Miriam Harte, director of Beamish Museum, will present awards to 14 individuals, five tutors and seven groups for their outstanding achievements during the past year.
During the week itself, residents will be able to have a go at a various subjects at venues throughout the area, from driving theory to interview skills, digital imaging to hair care and creative writing to computers for the terrified.
A stall promoting some of the courses on offer will be in place at Chester-le-Street Market from 10am to 2.30pm on Friday, May 27.
