KNOWLEDGE House has made a number of appointments to its team, which promotes closer ties between North-East universities and the region's business sector.
OMAR AL JANABI has joined as a business development manager based at the University of Newcastle.
A graduate mechanical engineer, he has worked with the Andrew Mitchell Group and regional development agency One NorthEast.
He is studying part-time for a PhD after completing an MBA in resource management. He will focus on marketing Knowledge House services to small and medium-sized businesses in the region.
NIZAM BALKHI has been appointed IT manager.
As well as developing and managing information systems at Knowledge House and Universities for the North-East, he deals with software systems, commercial project management, communication systems and emerging technologies.
Before joining Knowledge House, he managed the technology and business unit at Northumbria University.
MEL SOULSBY has been appointed development manager at Sunderland University. He has experience in factory and machine automation, particularly with robot and machine control applications.
