MANUFACTURING company Komatsu UK, at Birtley, near Chester-le-Street, has appointed JONATHAN SIMPSON as IT manager.
The former systems development co-ordinator has been with the company for ten years and will use his knowledge of the company's systems and procedures to manage the firm's IT needs.
The 35-year-old, who lives in Chester-le-Street, said: "I am looking forward to the added responsibility that comes with being a manager."
Peter Howe, managing director of Komatsu UK, said: "IT plays such an important role in the running of an efficient business. To have someone like Jonathan, who has worked here for ten years and knows the computer software well, in a managerial role, will definitely be to our advantage."
Komatsu UK employs about 700 staff.
