DRUG maker Quantum Specials is to double its workforce after winning a £28,000 grant.
The North Tyneside company has found a niche market with a tailor-made, same day delivery service for pharmacy prescriptions. Recent orders have included a lollipop containing an anaesthetic, to help numb the severe throat pains of a patient.
The cash, from regional development agency One NorthEast, under the Selective Finance for Investment scheme, will go on equipment, including a £12,000 fume cupboard, for its clean room facility in Tyne Metropolitan College. The company is forecast to grow from eight jobs to 16
