POLICE have released an e-fit of a man who grabbed a teenage girl's arm in a Bishop Auckland car park.
The incident, near the entrance to Bracks Farm, off the A688, at noon on Saturday, is being treated as an attempted abduction.
The 15-year-old girl managed to free herself and fled to a friend's house. She had talked to the driver for ten minutes after he asked her for directions to Bishop Auckland.
She told police he drove an old white van with a battered bonnet.
She said the man was in his late teens or early 20s, was tall and slim, with fair skin and medium blond short hair.
His eyes were close together and he had thick eyebrows.
He was wearing a silver ring on his right hand and a silver chain bracelet on his left wrist, a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
Bishop Auckland police are appealing for anyone with information to call 0845 606 0365.
