Consett Afternoon WI: The April meeting was opened by the president and the minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secretary.
Verses were read by Joan Dance and Linda Richardson.
It was reported that the coffee morning held in the Methodist Church had been a success.
A report was given by Linda Richardson on the AGM held at Bishop Auckland and it was announced that the entry by Margaret Anderson of Hat for Ascot, made from recycled materials, had been awarded the second prize. Margaret was congratulated.
Tickets were on sale for the group meeting to be held in St Patrick's Hall.
The speaker for the afternoon was Sue Webb, who gave a demonstration of her beautiful hand-made greetings cards.
The vote of thanks was given by Marian Tucker.
The competition, called a Pretty Scarf, was won by Joan Dance, Joan Pigg and Barbara Soulsby.
The raffle prize was won by Ethel Whitfield.
