THE Cockerton Ladies' Group celebrated its 40th anniversary this week.
It marked the occasion by holding a dinner for past and present members at its regular meeting place, Cockerton Methodist Church.
The club was set up in 1965 for mums in the area and was called the Young Wives' Group.
Group secretary Heather Patterson, a member for more than 30 years, said: "We changed the name from Young Wives because we were all getting much older.
"However, we always welcome new members, regardless of their age. They don't have to call or make an appointment, they can just pop along to the church hall. We meet there every alternate Tuesday."
Since its inception, the club has raised thousands of pounds for local charities.
The next meeting is May 24.
