YOUNGSTERS in Tow Law have helped design a seating area.
This month, the finishing touches of a woven willow archway were added to the sandstone bench that now stands on the Millennium Green in Tow Law, near the pond.
Wear Valley project officer Oliver Graham said: "The site does attract anti-social behaviour, so we hope that by putting in something that people have helped build and design, it will be well thought of and will be looked after by the community."
In March, the project received funding by Groundwork West Durham after a request by Tow Law Community Partnership.
A small group of adults and teenagers from Tow Law got together with sculptor Steve Holliday to determine the best location and designs.
Mr Graham said: "There is no real reason for the design, the children just wanted something a bit different."
The result was a simple, semi-circular sandstone bench with a motif of the life-cycle of the frog with a willow shelter around the bench.
