A CHARITY is seeking volunteers to drive people with eye problems to and from hospital appointments.
The County Durham Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted, based in Durham, is looking for car owners who can occasionally act as driver-escorts for people visiting eye clinics.
Volunteers collect people from their homes, attend appointments with them, and drive them home.
Volunteer co-ordinator Sandra Hillyard said: "The driver escort service is essential to its users.
"It ensures that they are able to attend important eye clinic appointments and makes the experience far less stressful.
"Just knowing that there is someone there to provide support, and that there won't be any problems getting to and from their appointment, really helps.''
The society offers full training and pays out-of-pocket expenses. For details, call Ms Hillyard on 0191-386 8175.
