TEESSIDE firm Glamal Engineering has become the first company to be granted planning permission to develop on the former Samsung site, in Wynyard.
The Billingham-based company had its application to develop on the £45m business park, now known as Wynyard One, approved this week.
It follows Stockton Borough Council's overturning of a condition that had previously prevented any non-electrical businesses from occupying the land.
Glamal, one of the largest stockholders of carbon and stainless steel piping products in the UK, operates from six warehouses in the area, but intends bringing all of them together at Wynyard.
The firm plans to turn a former microwave ovens building into a hi-tech storage facility with modern offices and communication links.
It is hoped that the Wynyard One development will bring about 1,000 jobs to the region.
