SILVER surfers from the area are being urged to share their memories by putting them on a local history website.
A day-long event is being held on Friday, May 27, at Hartlepool Central Library, York Road, to enable residents over 50 to put their recollections on the website, PortCities Hartlepool.
It has been organised to coincide with national Silver Surfers Week, which aims to encourage the over-50s to use the Internet.
Staff will be present to help people put their memories online, or residents can hand in their written memories at any Hartlepool library during the week.
"More mature people are a real mine of information about our local heritage and culture, and we hope that as many as possible will come along and make the event a success," said Diane Marlborough, Central Library manager.
"For example, you might recall a street party for the Coronation or remember the dances at the Rink, or the Prop Yard fire. No event is too big or too small to be recorded to save it for future generations."
