PEOPLE interested in becoming foster parents yesterday visited a vintage open-top bus touring the county.
The 1947 Leyland Tiger half-cab coach was in Northallerton as part of North Yorkshire County Council's Help Us Raise 100 Smiles campaign.
The aim is to recruit 100 extra foster care families in North Yorkshire over the next three years.
People interested in taking on the role of foster parent were able to talk it through with fostering staff from the council, and also meet and talk with current foster carers.
John Heron, child placement group manager for the council, said: "We wanted to give our foster care campaign another push, so what better way than using buses to drive home the message in this way."
The bus will be in the car park at Morrisons, in Dunslow Road, Scarborough, from 10am to 4pm today.
