SCHOOLchildren have been working to improve the gardens of a care home for the elderly in Derwentside.
Fifteen pupils from Consett Junior School helped brighten up Brockwell Court Care Home, in Consett.
The scheme is part of the Pride in Consett North project, which is a joint venture between Consett North Partnership and Groundwork West Durham.
Groundwork West Durham project officer Joanne Crumplin said: "It was a great day. The children worked really hard and the residents were really pleased with their efforts to brighten then place up.
"They watched them work and seemed really happy."
The children spent £200 on plants after receiving contributions from Consett North Partnership and Brockwell Court and a grant from the Environment Agency Action Earth scheme.
