STUDENTS with learning and physical disabilities from across the North-East took part in a sports day in the North-East yesterday.
More than 150 young people took part in sports events at Gateshead International Stadium.
The event, organised by staff at Gateshead College, promotes participation and widens the awareness of the students' abilities.
All students participating study on learner development courses, and have learning difficulties, sensory or physical impairments.
It is the second year the event has taken place.
Gateshead College tutor Sam Appleby said: "This event is about focusing on the students' abilities, rather than disabilities."
Sixty students from Gateshead College competed against entrants from across the North-East in 13 athletics events including track races, relays, long jump, and javelin.
All winners and runners-up were presented with medals in front of family and friends
