WHEN Emma Wilson decided to take another stab at getting pregnant after five years of trying without success, she was even prepared to try acupuncture.
Now Mrs Wilson and her husband, Keith, of Newcastle, are the proud parents of Nina - and are even thinking about a brother or sister for her.
After five years of trying, one failed IVF treatment and two miscarriages, the couple had all but given up on having children.
Doctors had told them it was unlikely Mrs Wilson, 34, would conceive or carry a baby to full term naturally.
But Mrs Wilson, a senior university administrator, tried the ancient Chinese treatment of acupuncture.
She said: "I was really sceptical, but thought I'd injected myself for the IVF treatment, so what were a few pins?
"Within a few weeks I'd fallen pregnant and I had an absolutely model pregnancy, giving birth on my due date."
Nina weighed in at 7lb 6oz on March 8.
Mrs Wilson and her 31-year-old husband, a buyer for Proctor and Gamble, would love a second child.
"If it happens, it happens and that would be wonderful. But we know we are very lucky as we are," she said.
