AN inquest has opened into the death of a 23-year-old woman who plunged from a ledge at her first-floor flat.
Emma Jayne Reed died in hospital after the fall at her home in Southgate, Pickering, North Yorkshire, just after midnight on Saturday.
Police were called by neighbours after they heard screams from people who witnessed the fall.
Miss Reed was taken to Scarborough Hospital with head injuries and later transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary, where she died on Sunday evening.
Floral tributes have been left at the scene.
Inspector Neil Burnett, of Ryedale police, said they were satisfied there were no suspicious circumstances.
He said: "We have carried out a comprehensive investigation, including interviewing numerous witnesses, and are content this was a tragic accident."
Miss Reed is the daughter of Jeremy Reed, a director of English Heritage North-East, and great-niece of Pickering mayor Tom Bateman
