THE Territorial Army (TA) will be out in strength in the North-East at the weekend to tell the public what it has to offer.
Tomorrow, there will be displays of armour, artillery, infantry, paras, engineers, signals, logistics, military police and medical units at North-East towns and cities.
The event has been arranged by the North of England Reserve Forces and the Cadets Association.
A spokesman said: "The Reserve Forces, and particularly the Territorial Army, have never been more useable since the Second World War.
"More than 1,000 TA soldiers from the North-East have served alongside the regular Army since 2003, mainly in Iraq, but also in Afghanistan and Bosnia."
The TA needs to recruit 700 soldiers from the region.
Main displays will be at the Haymarket and Old Eldon Square, in Newcastle, and the James Cook Square, in Middlesbrough. There will also be displays in Darlington, Hartlepool and Sunderland
