Darlington Building Society NYSD Premier League Premier Division: FOUR-times champions Guisborough again lead the field following an easy victory at Billingham Synthonia who they met for the second time in a week.
Last Saturday's fixture was washed out but there was no stopping Guisborough on this occasion and the Synners' total of 82 quickly evaporated as Saul Clifford (32 not out) and Imran Jan with an unbeaten 36 formed an unbroken partnership for the third wicket.
Runs were a lot more scarce when Synners batted first and after labouring for almost 49 overs they failed to make three figures.
Australian Brenton McDonald top-scored with 33 but the batsmen were constantly pegged back by David Towse and Paul Goodchild.
Towse, the league's most economical bowler, conceded just 21 runs in 18 overs bowling 12 maidens.
He captured three wickets while Goodchild took four for only 28 runs in 15 overs.
Normanby Hall are second despite being held to a draw at Great Ayton where 473 runs were scored for 12 wickets.
Ayton amassed 244 for four as the runs flowed from David Grainge (80), Darren Hickey with 67 and Thara Gunarathne (41 not out).
Mohamed Zahid sent down 24 overs in the Hall attack before hitting a half century in an opening partnership with Neil Pearson (72).
At stumps, the visitors were 229-8, 16 runs short of victory but with just two wickets remaining. Anthony Doyle bowled an impressive 19 overs taking six of the eight wickets for 57 runs.
Saltburn are up to third following a 39-runs win at Northallerton. Jonathan Barnes and Richard Bentley shared nine wickets as the Seasiders managed only 170.
When they replied, Northallerton also found runs difficult to come by and were sent back for 131 losing their last five wickets for the addition of only five runs. Tim Hood and Lee Hodgson both took three wickets at little cost.
Bishop Auckland surged to a ten-wicket victory at Richmondshire.
The target of 149 was met in just 30 overs as Amul Mazumdar struck nine boundaries in an unbeaten 74 and Darren Blenkiron also carried his bat for 64.
David Mathias and Ben Biker both passed 30 but the Richmond total of 148 never looked sufficient. Phil Timmens bowled unchanged for 24 overs returning 3-56 and Ben Usher delivered 12 overs for his 4-38.
It has so far been a topsy-turvy season for Marske who were all out for just 66 at Park Drive where the Hartlepool attack of Ian Jackson and Andy Carter proved too strong.
Pools' 164 achieved from 47.3 overs included a timely innings of 61 by Johnson and for Marske, spinner Lee Beaumont claimed four wickets for 48 runs in 15 overs.
Neil Pratt was one of two players to make centuries in the game between Darlington and Redcar at Feethams.
He batted throughout for an undefeated 101 and both Steve Chapman and Mark Jobling made 36 as the home side overtook the Redcar total of 207-nine with eight wickets remaining.
Steve De Bolfo topped Pratt's performance when he finished 113 not out but despite his contribution, it was Darlington who celebrated victory.
So too did Middlesbrough against Darlington RA at Acklam Park. James Beaumont (37) and Guy Whatmore with 40 led Boro to a useful 191-7 despite Stuart Morgan claiming four wickets.
Morgan then top-scored with a half century but RA were all out for only 144 as Beaumont, Brett Roberts and Alex Roberts all took three wickets. ends
Despite being held to a draw by Darlington, Marton top the Division One table as they make another push for promotion to the Premier Division.
Opener Chris Lane struck 12 boundaries in 68 and Gary Knight added an unbeaten 43 to the home side's total of 216-7 before Darlington's star man Danny Morgans steered his side to a share of the points.
The skipper struck a couple of sixes and eight fours in 75 balls and earlier bowled 16 overs returning 3-51.
Danny Trodden did even better with the ball for Marton when introduced as third-change and his hugely economical 11 overs earned him five wickets for a mere 18 runs.
Thornaby are second and they too failed to defeat Blackhall whose last pair were at the wicket when time was called.
No fewer than five players made at least 30 as Thornaby passed the 200 mark for the loss of seven wickets. Four of them fell to Steve Hanson for 92 runs but when the Colliers replied, most of their batsmen were in difficulties.
Opener Paul Moss (30) though defied the home attack as did Shoaib Akhtar who was Blackhall's saviour with an unbeaten 66.
Umer Rashid almost clinched victory for Thornaby but not even his 5-36 performance was enough.
Stokesley had wickets and time to spare in their home fixture with Wolviston.
Jimmy Jones' innings of 30 was the best that the visitors could produce as a total of only 114 was achieved from almost 45 overs.
Thomas Atkinson took 4-35 in 12 overs and Ian West 3-18 from the ten overs he delivered before David Weighell (32) and Gareth Davies (37 not out) steered Stokesley to their third victory in five games.
Normanby Hall won an exciting match with Seaton Carew by just one wicket. Faced with the target of 182 they just squeezed home after Lee Sykes recorded 14 boundaries in 74.
James Fitzpatrick bowled unchanged for 25 overs taking 6-74 but still ended on the losing side.
The Hall used only two bowlers. Geoff Robinson sent down 25 overs returning 3-65 and Colin Vaulks bowled a similar number, capturing four wickets at a cost of 92 runs.
The runs flowed at Fountains Garth where Guisborough posted the huge total of 270-6.
Rob Hornbrook had a six and ten boundaries in 70, Chris Trillo added 60 to their second-wicket partnership and Ryan Murray (48) and Simon Filer (43) also scored merrily.
Visitors Barnard Castle though failed to emulate the home batsmen and were back in the pavilion with just 95 on the board.
Ryan Murray completed a good day claiming five wickets for a mere 24 runs in 12 overs and Steve Donlon weighed in with three wickets.
Bedale were another side short of runs at Yarm where they were all out in 32 overs for only 79 as Will Wyatt returned the outstanding figures of 7-31 in 16 overs, five of them maidens.
At the other end, Phil Andrews conceded just 11 runs in seven overs taking two wickets.
Rhys Barker then dominated Yarm's reply which lasted just 13.5 overs. He crashed a couple of sixes and ten fours in an unbeaten 60 and victory was achieved in quick-fire time for the loss of only one wicket.
Honours were shared between Redcar and Darlington RA. Stuart Bell (37), Steve Marr (40) and Steve Walker with 35 led RA to 172-9 from 50 overs.
Adam Pickard captured five of the wickets for 53 runs in 18 overs before Andy Weatherall, with an unbeaten 35 steered the Seasiders to 126-5 from their 50 overs.
