AN export initiative has been launched to help North-East businesses achieve success in international trade.
UK Trade and Investment's Virtual Export Manager project is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and will be managed by the Regional International Trade Office, in Durham.
Stephen Muir, 33, of Guisborough, east Cleveland, has been appointed project manager. He said: "I believe the project is an excellent opportunity, offering fantastic support for any company wanting to develop its international trade.
"We aim to ensure we match companies with a suitably experienced virtual export manager, someone who has a working knowledge of the sector the company operates in and a proven track record in export markets.
"They will work hands-on with the company as part of the team, developing procedures and establishing a solid platform on which the company can build.
"Its major benefit is that it provides a tailor-made support plan to meet each company's individual needs."
