RESIDENTS of Heighington had a fun-filled weekend as they turned out in droves to enjoy an annual fair.
The three-day carnival, which finished on Saturday, was raising money for a play area. The fair featured a variety of stalls and activities, including face painting and balloon modelling to more traditional fun such as hook-a-duck.
Clare Adamson, a member of the fundraising committee, said the village hoped to put a recreation area on a field off Hall Lane, where there are currently football pitches.
Paul Evans, owner of Carnival Funfairs, who brought a variety of rides to the event, will donate some money to the parish council for the project.
Mr Evans said: "It was an absolutely brilliant community event. The whole village, young and old, came out and got involved and, fortunately, the weather was on our side.
"I have been involved with the annual fun fair for over ten years now and it just keeps getting better and better. As this was to raise money to build a recreation area, it was for a very worthy cause too."
