HAND grenades, guns and mortar rounds dating from the Second World War were stolen from a car.
The weaponry, which was to be used in a war re-enactment event, was taken from a Vauxhall Corsa, on The Crescent in Markse, Teesside, over the weekend.
Included in the haul, which was stolen on Friday or Saturday, was a decommissioned Sten gun as well as several deactivated hand grenades and mortar rounds.
Police said they could not rule out the possibility that the firearms could be made to work again by someone with the right expertise.
A Cleveland Police spokesman said: "Some of these old weapons can be reactivated but it usually depends on how they have been decommissioned.
"It is not clear what is the situation with this haul - whether any of the firearms could be reactivated."
