A LOCAL authority is to send representatives to meet bank officials to discuss the closure of one of its branches.
Last week, the Australian owners of Yorkshire Bank and Clydesdale Bank announced it was closing 100 UK branches. The Barnard Castle branch was one of the first to go.
Teesdale council is setting up a meeting with Yorkshire Bank and newly-elected MP Mrs Goodman. Councillor Richard Betton said: "We did exactly the same when the bank in Middleton-in-Teesdale announced it was reducing its services and we met with them and our member of parliament and got a cash machine installed. Hopefully, the outcome may be as positive."
