MORE people then ever will be able to attend a popular rhythm and blues festival this summer.
The third Barnard Castle Rhythm and Blues Festival is to take place on the Demesnes fields in the town, on Sunday, May 29.
In previous years, the festival was held at the Red Well Inn. However, the move means the free festival can attract even larger crowds.
Organiser Mike Walton said: "This is much bigger than what we've had before and the Demesnes are big enough to house a lot more people so we can advertise it a lot more widely.
"It's the same weekend as the Barnard Castle Meet and being on the Demesnes means we will be closer to where the Meet takes place and it will provide something to do on the Sunday."
The bands lined up are the TCR Blues Band, the Andrew Yeadon Band, Ice Pick Willy, Freeway and Slack Alice.
There will also be a beer tent and refreshments.
The festival's main sponsor is the Black Horse in Barnard Castle, and Barnard Castle Round Table made a £250 donation.
