A SWIMMING team had to wait until the last race of a gala to win a trophy they lost last year.
The Thirsk White Horse team competed against the Isle of Man Southern team at the third contest between the clubs.
The link-up was forged in 2003, when Isle of Man coach Simon Hartley made an appeal for mainland competition.
During the gala, both teams took time out from practising to visit the Yorkshire Dales.
After the event, the swimmers held a disco, with dinner provided by parents.
"It's all very well enjoying themselves on dry land," said White Horse coach Hannah Creelman.
"But it was also important that they remembered that performance in the water also counted and they came through victorious at the last minute."
The Thirsk team will travel to the Isle of Man next year.
The White Horse team trains daily at Thirsk Swimming Pool.
