THIEVES have stolen two wooden tables from Saltburn Library's community garden.
They appear to have been lifted over the wall that surrounds the picturesque courtyard garden.
Librarian Maggie Doyle said: "Everyone's absolutely appalled. Sadly, I think it could have been someone who's come into the library, seen the tables and decided to take them.
"They're not expensive, but their value to the courtyard garden is immense. We have lots of groups and lots of borrowers who love to sit out there with a book and a cup of tea, just for the peace and quiet."
