OFFICIALS have come up with a new approach to safeguard the plants and animals in a district of North Yorkshire.
A biodiversity action plan has been drawn up for the Ryedale area and the public is invited to have a say about its contents.
Local countryside officer Susan Bragg said: "Ryedale's biodiversity is a tremendous asset for the area and one which helps provide a distinct character, supports farming, forestry, tourism and other economic enterprises and provides a wonderful environment to enjoy."
The plan, a consultation document, can be viewed on the Ryedale District Council website, www.ryedale.gov.uk
